Being that his family is still months away from moving back home, he was surprised.

“If we’re ahead of the game, what about a lot of the other people?” Mr. Grove said recently at his Linden Street home.

Truth is, a month since the historic flood, many of the hundreds of property owners affected by the flood in West Pittston are playing the waiting game – waiting for their properties to dry. Rather than hiring a restoration company with industrial fans, some people are trying to simply air out their homes by keeping the windows open, said Don Summa, a mold specialist from Drew Envirkleen in Throop.

“The mold is outgrowing the drying,” Mr. Summa explained. “Drying is the key.”
